WOMEN’S NATURAL BUILDING WORKSHOP
คอร์สผู้หญิงสร้างบ้านดิน
Dates: December 5-15th, in Chiang Dao, northern Thailand (about 70kms north of Chiang Mai)
Who: women of any age in any physical condition who have a desire to get muddy and build something spectacular supported by other women
Over the years, we at IWP have dreamed of developing a safe retreat space where activists can come on their own to rest, recover, relax, reflect, and rejuvenate, surrounded by a supportive community and ample time for solitude in nature. The need and desire for such a space is echoed in nearly every conversation we have had in our activist communities in Asia, and around the world.
In the 13 years of developing our training center, we have organized trainings and retreats for hundreds of activists, and we feel confident our approach works: our current center is fully self-sustaining; activists and NGO workers appreciate our holistic approach of integrating spiritual and mindful practices as a foundation for our social justice activism and movement building; and our center promotes self-reliance, ecological and personal wellbeing, and community building by constructing our own buildings with natural, locally sourced building materials.
We have bought a piece of land in Chiang Dao, northern Thailand, and we have the energy and time to invest in a new phase of our commitment to social justice activism by creating a new space to sustain and support the wellbeing of activists.
Over the next 3-4 years, in partnership with Pun Pun, we will host a series of natural building workshops to build the center, and that starts now~
Our first course is an all women’s build, December 5-15, 2015. Join us! And bring your mother, your lover, your sisters, daughters, and friends!
Costs: total investment is 13,000 baht ($400 USD) which includes course fees, all food and accommodation at a nearby guesthouse for the 10 day course. It also includes transportation from Chiang Mai out to Chiang Dao, and daily transport to/from the work site.
Who are we?: International Women’s Partnership for Peace and Justice (IWP) is a feminist organization working with grassroots activists on sustainable strategies for social change by integrating feminism, nonviolent action and spiritual practice. Pun Pun is a farm, natural building, seed saving and organic farming training centre. This is the third year IWP and Pun Pun are offering women’s natural building workshops together (Pun Pun has led mixed gender workshops for many years!) and this will be our 5th all women’s house! IWP and Pun Pun are a perfect match for women’s building courses, bringing together feminism and natural building, as well as a belief that work and play should always integrate the building of community.
